Robin Trust takes CEO role at MC&C

14th September 2018

MC&C Media, the independent media agency, has promoted Managing Director Robin Trust to the position of CEO.

The appointment is the culmination of five highly successful years for Robin, who joined MC&C in 2013 as Business Director. He was quickly promoted to the board and two years later was promoted to the role of Chief Client Officer, followed by Deputy Managing Director, and finally to Managing Director in 2017.

Since then Robin has been overseeing the agency’s journey of transformation, building on its performance heritage and evolving and adding to its capabilities. Under his guidance the company has driven proven and effective growth for all its clients, winning more than a dozen new business pitches in 2018 alone.

Mike Colling, who founded MC&C in 2001, remains with the business but steps back from management of the business to work with the roster of clients the agency has built up over 17 years.

Meanwhile the MC&C board has named the agency’s new chairman. Catherine Wall is an independent non-executive director and chairman with 25 years’ experience in advising businesses on a full spectrum of work streams from growth strategies to team performance. She has worked with more than 30 companies across multiple sectors including retail, healthcare, fashion and financial services, where digital strategy and international expansion have been a key focus.

Catherine will work with Robin and his senior management team to drive forward MC&C into its new chapter of growth.

Mike Colling said: “The industry has changed almost beyond all recognition since I set up MC&C Media in 2001. As a leading independent we continue to generate proven,  sustainable and profitable growth for our clients, our partners and the agency. Our accelerating growth over the last four years is a testament to our team and their ability to grow and evolve.

“I am delighted to be handing the reins over to Robin who has grown to become an exceptional leader over the last five years. He has a depth of craft skills, and is well liked and respected by both clients and his team. This is a combination that is rarely found, and I look forward to continuing to work with him as he takes the agency forward.”

Robin Trust said: “To be offered the opportunity to lead a media agency is without doubt a career highlight, but when that agency is MC&C it is a pleasure as well as a privilege.

“Independent agencies have found their rightful place in the spotlight in the last couple of years and remain a hugely exciting place to work. At MC&C we are a strong, close knit team who are passionate about what we do and work hard together to drive success for our clients, and for the agency as a whole.

“I am incredibly excited about the next chapter of the agency’s story and look forward to continuing to work closely with our remarkable roster of clients in pursuit of their own short and long-term growth.”
